The Canadian Cancer Society has decided to take a stance on nicotine addiction, and is lobbying for the ban of flavoured eliquid, all under the "protect the children from nicotine" guise. Why are they focused on this instead of cancer research and prevention? Has it not been over a decade that nicotine was noted to be non-carcinogenic? Sure it's an addictive chemical, much in the same way caffeine is, but nicotine and cancer have no relation to one another.
The CCS should be embracing vapour products as a tobacco harm reduction measure; a product helping to steer people away from poisonous, cancer causing tobacco smoke and instead providing them with a scientifically proven (reports from Public Health England and the Royal College of Physicians...these documents CAN NOT be ignored), less harmful alternative, instead of concerning themselves with what's addictive or not.
Additionally, since they're so concerned with nicotine and flavoured eliquid, are they for the ban of mint flavoured nicotine gum? Fruit flavoured nicotine chews? Berry blast Nicorette quick mist?
There is also the played out "gateway to youth smoking" argument they throw around, which is complete and utter illogical nonsense. There is not one person out there who has taken up vaping in order to start smoking. Not one person will vape a flavour such as apple fritter and switch to the disgusting flavour of burnt leaves and paper that is tobacco cigarettes.
Using their same flawed logic of flavoured nicotine eliquid being a gateway to smoking, cherry flavoured condoms are a gateway to unprotected sex. It's complete and utter rubbish.
